What makes your journey great? I would say its your attitude. How you face changes, problems and challenges decide how your journey will be. I was reminded about this last Sunday when I was sitting on a delayed train between Stockholm and Malmö.
It al started well, I had booked my trip with Snälltåget well in advance to a fair price. I usually like the atmosphere on train stations and airports so I was in more the good time at Stockholm Central. So while I wait for my departure my mood gets really good. I strongly believe that its my attitude that makes my journey and tries to be as positive as possible.
This station is maybe not the most fantastic station I know but there is some good places for a coffee or two. I also used the time to work a little and get something to eat. The price for the dinner on the trains are usually not worth the price. Knowing that, I made sure to get some food before I boarded the train. Because a stuffed belly sure will make your journey much more.
The train ride with Snälltåget between Stockholm and Malmö usually takes about 5 hours. There is (or there is on some places) wifi on the train, a restaurant and a kiosk onboard. So with a not to bad seat there is al possibility to get a good journey. However around half way, the speaker announce that a meeting train had a collision and we will try to get in to a station where we will need to wait. In the beginning everyone was relaxed and didn’t care to much. But after some hours people started to be irritated and a little upset. And it’s here your attitude makes your journey.
A delay is not whats makes your journey
Its how you face it. So here we was at a station half way on our train ride, it’s rainy and we can hear the thunder just outside the train. The time don’t exactly fly by when you are stranded at a train. But it’s you who decide how to handle with it. On my train I could see two types. The first group started to be upset and a little irritating against the train host. While group number 2 was much more laid back and happy. I decided two be relax and find out the best of the journey.
When I thought of it, it sounded like the collision had hit another human. Or at least there was a risk for it. So what are mine six hours delay against a person never getting home, a family in sorrow and a train driver with an awful memory for the rest of his life. Compared to that my situation was fantastic! I was safe, dry and did not starve. What more to ask for? So I decided to make my journey good. I spent the time to listen to some creepy pasta, read and enjoy some more time for my self. What mind do you use to make your journey?
