Yasuragi is Japanese and can be translated into “the long deep exhale you make when you really make go and relax.” And for sure you will relax in this luxury spa 20 minutes out from Stockholm. In a world where our brains gets overloaded with impressions and the screen time gets higher for every year we need to find a place to relax. So to get away and really relax with an old fashion book Yasuragi sounded like a great place. Mostly because its spa and dojo is screen and camera free zones. They also makes it easy for you to relax on other ways. At check in you get a yukata and swimwear to wear al the time you are there, no worries about dress codes or brands. You can just relax, sink down in a pool and let out an yasuragi.
The Yasuragi superior room
By experience I have learned that it’s a good thing to not book the cheapest rooms at hotels. The price difference is usually not to high compared to the higher value you get. So me and my husband booked a superior room with Japanese bathroom for our stay at Yasuragi. The room was surprisingly large with a great view out over the sea. The furniture inclusive the futon bed was al in Japanese style.
But what really impressed me, was the Japanese bathroom. It had a fantastic wooden bathtub to sit in as well as small stools for your Japanese washing tradition. I think this was the rooms highlight. Not only was the spa and food Japanese so was your morning bath.
The Yasuragi spa
As I mentioned before, the Yasuragi spa is a non camera, mobile and screen free zon. For a blogger that’s a nightmare. On the other hand, I don’t think I have the right to destroy the experience for others just to get content. So will here use the official pictures. And to be honest, I did like to be digital free.
Laying down in one of the hot pools and read a thriller was so relaxing. It really made me make a Yasuragi. I also tried a salt sauna to refresh my body before I jumped in to a cold spring that made my heart beat twice the speed it should. But it was so fantastic afterwards. The spa made sure that I did relax and I now understand what I miss in my ordinary life, a Japanese onsen. Will anyone open it for me i Malmö?
To walk around in a very quit environment, drink some tea and take turns between the chair at the terrace, the pool and sauna was magical. I really connected to my self and al my deeper feelings, it was a blessing to get so relaxed in an otherwise stressed out world.
The food was…
not so great. Yasuragi have a summer solution with a Japanese buffet instead of the three course dinner that you otherwise get. Sadly I can get a better buffet for less money in an suburb. The sushi starter was blend and the warm buffet was more lukewarm then warm. When you think of the price of Yasuragi and that they promote them self as a luxury spa you can’t let the food draw you down. The breakfast was much better. But they could have done it much more Japanese. Now it was like a good ordinary hotel breakfast.
The Yasuragi environment
To get the right feeling its not enough that you have great rooms and a fantastic spa. You also need to create the right atmosphere. At Yasuragi they have made this well. Located out in the forrest with a small Japanese garden and themed decorations around the hotel created a true Japanese feeling.
Conclusions
The Yasuragi spa is fantastic! The idea of a digital free luxury spa is so right in time. The employee are al kind and willing to help and the yukata makes everyone equal. Together it creates a feeling of relaxation and wellbeing. The rooms are nicely decorated and the Japanese bathroom was so cool. I loved it! The only cons I have is that the food is not up to standard with the rest of the spa. Maybe it’s because of the low season during summer. But as customers we do pay, and it’s not cheap. So for the management, take some word with the chef and I hope I get a better dinner next time.
Oh and remember, if you are a member of the Strawberry hotels loyalty program, the Yasuragi will give you points just as you will get it when you visit the Ice hotel i Kiruna
