Being three hours at an airport before boarding is a golden rule for me. Not necessary because I need it. But I love the atmosphere there. The rush and pulse of people on their way. Maybe just for a meeting over the day or a long vacation with the family.
My main airport is Copenhagen Airport or as I still say, Kastrup. Its in comfortable reach from Malmö with train. But how do I spend three hours at an airport? Maybe you think Im afraid of long queues to security or check in. But no, most of the time I fly with hand luggage only and use SAS fast track thru security.
SAS Gold lounge
I usually starts my three hours at an airport with getting coffee from Jasmin or one of her colleague in SAS Gold lounge.
Here I also tries to get something to eat. Mostly because I’m to greedy and don’t want to pay for the expensive airport food. But also because three hours at an airport is a long time without food. I still get furious when I remember that a shrimp sandwich and a beer can cost over 40€ at Swedish airports.
Three hours on an airport goes quick
After the lounge visit Im happy and relaxed and makes a quick visit at the tax free to see if my friend Ronnel works. At the same time I pass by Lacoste and Wood Wood to see if they have some nice offers or gifts to my friends. With the Danish krones strength against the Swedish I rarely do. But I can go to Mikkellers and get some really nice non-alcoholic beer. This is a great alternative to the lounge. I don’t get free drinks or the same relaxed sphere at as in the airport lounge. But I do meet more interested people here and I can watch peoples travel fashion here. This deserves a long blog post by it self. Let us this time just say that some have very different opinion to mine about whats suitable.
If I get time over I also tries to get out to the CPH GO terminal. Yes its way off, I know. But on the way out there I pass by one of few places where I can actually get good photos at Copenhagen Airport. As an aviation geek thats just a much.
With boarding half an hour before take off on most flights the time runs out quickly and my three hours at an airports disappears. But I do wonder, how early do you use to be at the air port and how do you spend the time there? Maybe I missed something. Write in the comments below.
