We continue to travel, but makes shorter trips. At least thats what a press notice from Ticket told me this week. To make it fair they compare 2023 with 2019 we clearly can see the difference pre and post covid. The average trip to day is 9,4 days compared to 11,5 days 2019. But as always its hard to dram everyone after the same line. Cran Canaria with it’s (in)famous Jumbocenter continue to keep its passenger at 10 days. While for example Alicante sees a massive drop from 10, 7 to 7,7 days.
The reason to the shorter trips could be two. Either we prefer to spend our money to get more luxury experiences or we travels more. The sooner sounds more reasonable for me. Specially when Ticket as an example sold 9,6 percent more trips.
I think that a pattern where we fly more often but shorter is a good thing. Maybe not for the environment, but for us as humans. Because what I know is that you get new friends when you travels and friends don’t fight. Im also a strong defender of the interdependet trust, care and security between countires and citizens that is the basic foundation of the European Dream. So even makes shorter trips, we continue to travel, to get new experiences and meet new people. We can do this because low cost alternatives as Ryan and Wizz Air makes it cheap to fly while AirBNB open up a new way for us to find a place to sleep.
For me, a long journey is never a goal in it self. With some planning you can get the same experiences on shorter trips. So spend less time at the pool and make more but shorter trips instead. Specially if you live in the north where the darkness is coming. You will need some sun.
