If you should fly budget or luxurious aint always an easy choice. I have been flying al different classes and would say that some time business aint worth it al the time. Except your personal budget (a flight in coach is always better the no flight) there is some other thing to considerate when you decide your flight class.
Flight time
The first thing I would calculate on is flight time. If its an flight over 6 hours I would consider Business even in a narrow bodied plane. At this distance you want to get a little more decent food and maybe the ability to stretch your leg. For flight more then 10 hours I would try to get bulkhead seats in Business or First. The bulkhead because many Business seats are tight around your feet when you go al flat. First, well its just an total other experience where you get tampered from check in to arrival and you are feeling so good. For flight less then 6 hours, buy the cheapest possible ticket and eat a decent meal before you leave your home. The price difference between Business and Coach aint worth it on a short flight.
Time of the day
After that I would consider what time of the day I’m flying. Connected to this there is the question if you are an easy sleeper or not. If you like my partner fall a sleep before take off, go for Coach. How ever not al of us fall to sleep so easy. In those cases a Business seat could be worth it even on shorter flights. Some airlines do have real business seats even on shorter flights. For an example Turkish Airlines and EgyptAir. On the other hand almost al European airlines just have economy seats with the middle seat blocked. How ever even this gives you some extra space, and your seat neighbour want drawl on you.
Luggage
Luggage is maybe not the first thing you think on when you decide if you should fly budget or luxurious. But it do have a great impact. Over weight luggage is expensive and can at check in easy eat up the difference between Coach and Business class. When I was flying in a previous job it happened that I had a film crew with me. Because of al the extra equipment the cheapest solution was always Business class with more and heavier luggage allowed.
So should you fly budget or luxurious
There is no right answer to if you should fly budget or luxurious. What you choose depends on the flight time, time of the day and how much luggage you need to have with you. If you get back to these three themes the next time you should travel I’m sure you book a class that fits your needs.
