Female travelers 40+ is my hope for humanity. As you maybe know I love to travel and write about the travel industry because I think traveling unites people. So who are the travelers who make a difference in the world? Its the female traveler 40+.
When I look on travel accounts on Instagram or Youtube I mostly see young people who strives to reach thew life of a digital nomad. But when I have been looking into who follows me its usually a women aghed 4o and above. This have surprised me but in Washington Post I found the reason. If I take away the travelers who just want to sit at the pool, the majority of solo travelers are female travelers 40+ . As an example they consist of 57% of traveler who looks for adventures and book their tour thru international travel agencies.
If we look into a little older age group. Women 65 + went from 4 to 18 percent of Adventure womens customers during 2019 to 2022. Because the learned by Covid restrictions that if you want something to happened, the time is now.
Female travelers 40+ want’s adentures
But female travelers 40+ continues to impress on me, because as Cole Banks at Sisters traveling solo express it “Cultural trips are for people who want to do less touristy stuff and want to interact with local people.” And its here I as a middle aged gay traveler starts to recognize me. I do like to have a pool on the hotel. But daytime I prefer to walk or use public transports instead of taking a taxi. Because let us be honest neither me or you think that the compound looking resorts are so great after a day or two. We want to meet people, to see the real life and enjoy the atmosphere.
And the reason is that female travelers 40+ and gay men have more money and time when the get older. The career is done and its time to enjoy the life. But of you have more time then money or just want to dig deeper in to the local life there is still work and volunteer programs. The good side of them is that they are great ways to finds friends. Another options is to use your skills as a writer or photographer to earn money for the next trip.
For me the important part is that when you travel, make sure to leave your destination a little better then it was then you arrived. I don’t care if you do it by volunteering or using social and ecological travel agencies. But make sure to make a great impact! And for the moment Im happy that female travelers are taking the lead to adventurous travels and have the good taste to follow me on Instagram.
