IBIS Budget in Katowice is a one star facility, as such I was doubtful to book it even for a weekend travel. However the price was only 150 Euro for three nights with breakfast. So what could I loose?
Location
For many of us, independent if we have a weekend travel or a work trip the location is almost everything. We want to be close to the city center, the major tourist attractions or the office we will go to. Here the IBIS Budget in Katowice want make you disappointed. You can see the Silesian museum thru the windows and the city center is about 10 min walk away. You will also find public transport close by and a big LIDL less them 5 min walk away.
The room
The room is small but spotless clean. If you get a room out over the Silesian museum you will get a great view. I was a little less lucky and faced the Novotel Hotel when I looked out of my window. But I don’t stay much at the room so it was ok. The room is basic but do have what you you need. Even if I didn’t understand the layout with shower and toilet separated from each other with a basin in the room. The only other problem in the room was the lack of power outlets. To just have two at a modern hotel is really to underestimate the needs of a modern tourist.
The service
As I mentioned in the intro, IBIS Budget in Katowice is a one star hotel. So my hope for great service or a lot of amenities was as low as the could be. However my late check in went quick and smooth and I did get my free bottle of water as an Accor Gold member. The reception area is small but does include a small lounge and play area if you have kids. When I went down for breakfast I was slightly disappointed the first morning.
The guy working there showed well that he had no interests in customer service. But when Katrine took over the breakfast the two coming mornings it was a total new experience. She was welcoming, customer orientated and clearly liked her job. She even brought out the hot drink to al customers. That is in my opinion to go much further then expected on a budget hotel. Well down Katrine!
How to book IBIS Budget Katowice?
In the headline I ask if IBIS Budget could be good. Well it ain’t a five star hotel, but it’s well worth its money. Its clean, the staff is in general kind and polite and the breakfast is more then I would eat at home. So yes it’s good! You do get more the you pay for. If I will come back to Katowice I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. Find your hotel deal here
