From time to time I find children traveling in premium cabins. Latest at my Lufthansa flight in First Class from Frankfurt to Sao Paulo. This was also the most extreme I seen. A kid around 5 years who fly First. Im a big fan of premium flying and totally understand that the parents enjoyed it as well. But is it reasonable to pay as much money for seat to someone who want enjoy it.
For being honest, independent of service class there is more or less four thing you can do on a plane. Eat, read, sleep and this days browse the net. But those kids I know in the age of five, don’t read, don’t enjoys fancy dinner, are used to sleep on the strangest places. So the only thing there are for them is the free wifi in First. And that is a hell of expensive wifi if you put your children in a premium cabin for that.
Those who likes kids a little more then me would maybe object that the kids should be close to there parents. And I don’t disagree. But for those other passengers who may have payed 7-8 000 euro for a ticket it can quick become a nightmare with children in the premium cabin. At my Frankfurt – Sao Paulo flight the kid behaved well. But I have been on other flights in Business where the kids wasn’t used traveler and destroyed the calmness that for many is one of the reasons we prefer premium cabins. We want a calm, smooth traveling experience and will maybe work at arrival.
