Hotels.com have for many of us being the natural choice when we need to book a hotel where we don’t have status. Much because of their own bonus system. But now its time to say good bye to them. As One Mile at a time have reported they will make drastic cuts in their program. For the moment you have a great value with
- Every night you stay you will get a stamp. After ten nights you have ten stamps that will give you one free night
- The value of the free night is the equal to the average of your spending over those 10 nights
- You can save your free night and use it when you will. Its not necessarily the 11 night. You can save it for free.
- If the value of the hotel night is lower then your free night you don’t get any refund. On the other and better way, if the price is higher then the value of the free night its counted as a discount and you just pay the price difference.
Hotels.com new program
But during this year Hotels.com will change this. Even if they try to sell it in as an improvement. With Hotels.com rewards changing in to One Key a bonus program covering Hotels.com, Expedia and Vrbo. This can look like an improvement, making it more easy to get rewards into the same program from more then one site. But you will only get 2% bonus on every dollar spent on eligible hotels, vacation rentals, activities, packages, rental cars, and cruises and 0.2% per dollar spent on flights. If we remember that most of us want to book our flights direct with the airline this is a really a cut. As you remember you get a bonus night worth 10% of your spending after ten night at hotels.com today. So compared to that this is a really bad change.
So it’s a good idea to start to look if your first hotel chain of choice have a hotel close by or start to plan a good match making for your needs. Because Hotels.com new program aint good for you.
