Are you a good passenger? Many of us have been sitting on an expensive flight and feeling the air rage coming. Maybe is it a child kicking your chair or the person in front of you who recline a little to much. What ever the reason, you will get more and more irritated on them over time. And if its a long flight you will need to struggle to not shout out your opinion. But if we ask the flight attendant whats the worst thing you could do on a plane list would maybe be a little different from yours. Lets see what they say.
Don’t stand up during start and landing
or any other time the seat belt sign is on. This could sound like a no brainer. But I think that many of us have seen the super stressed passenger who tries to get his luggage out from the overhead bin as sone as the plane touch the ground. By doing this, they just don’t put them self at danger but also al over passengers who are close by. I can promise you, an 8 kilo hand luggage falling down in your head is a bad start on the vacation.
Don’t fight with the crew or other passengers
To not fight is a good idea independent if you are on a flight or not. Yes, it can be stressful to travel with little space and short connection. But let us be fair, its not the fault of the cabin crew or any other passengers that you cant behave. You can tell your opinion, but do it with respect and on a civilized way. Or even better, be a good passenger and tell the flight attendant that you are thankful for their service onboard. That will maybe make your flight better. Shouting and fighting will get you banned and to jail.
Don’t destroy the plane
There is at least to perspective to this one. The first is, the plane is the reason why you can take of and fly in the air. If you start to destroy the plane what make you think it will get safer that way? Its just an insane idea. If you are strong enough to actually damage the plane the risk that you need to divert and make an emergency landing is quite high. The other reason is that its a crime and you risk high fines or in worst case jail.
Don’t bring bigotry and prejudices with you
This is also a quite general rule. No one should need to hear derogatory words ever. Its just a sign of bad bad behavior. The flight attendant is the ear, mouth and moral compass on board a flight. One of their job is to make sure that al passengers are treated equal and have a nice flight. So if you cant keep your mouth shout and start to insult crew or other passenger they will act. If you are sitting in the same cabin as some one who cant stop to spew up their bigotry and prejudices, then be a good passenger and call the flight attendant and show support for the victim.
Don’t smoke
Independent if you smoke tobacco or e-cigarettes you will make the fire alarm go off. I can promise you that al those who is afraid of flying, sitting on the same flight as you will hate you deeply afterwards. Besides that, smoking on a plane is dangerous. If you start a fire onboard you put everyone onboard in danger, the plane need to divert and you will get a heavy fine or get to jail. But why are their ashtrays in the toilet then? Well its stupid and forbidden to smoke. But its still better you throw the cigarette in an ashtray then in the bin.
Don’t over drink
Yes, we know it’s vacation and you started it with a beer at 5 a clock at the morning. And that is maybe fine. Even if I always been looking skeptical to those who drink at that time. Specially if the have children. But yes you want to celebrate and a beer ain’t wrong. But make sure that you stop drinking before you get to much fun. If you are to toxiated you can be banned from flying that day. Its also forbidden to smug a drink or two from any alcohol that ain’t served at the airport. If you do and the cabin crew find out, they will confiscate the alcohol until landing.
Don’t walk in bare feet
Is to much drinking is bad for you, it’s still nothing compared to walk with bare feet’s on a plane. Most plane may look decently clean but in reality they are really filthy. The spots on the carpet ain’t just some cola that someone dropped. It’s probably something much worse. And the wet floor in the toilet is not only water. So for your own safety and well-being keep your shoes on.
Act as the good passenger you are.
Its not hard, most or I would say al of the don’ts are easy to follow. Acting like a good passenger just demands that you use your common sense. In your ordinary life you (hopefully) don’t put others into dangers, fight with them, get drunk in public or make sure you get filthy. So why should you do it when you travel?
